Omenacash Rekindles Hope as Apapa Solution Team Holds Get Together
In a bid to rekindle the hope of members amid the delay in the NAGAFF Apapa Chapter election, the Apapa Solution Team, led by its Chairmanship candidate, Fwrd. Emeka Obinali, popularly known as Omenacash, on Friday, August 21, 2026, held a get-together at OC’s Place, Randle Avenue, Apapa, Lagos.
Speaking with journalists, Omenacash said the gathering was organised to bring members together and reassure them that the election process remains on course.
According to him, the postponement of the election had caused some members to lose confidence and hope in the process, making it necessary for the team to reconnect with its supporters.
“Because of this postponement of the election, it’s like everywhere is calm. It’s like NAGAFF is not doing something again. So, I just said, okay, let us make a kind of get-together for our people. Let them come out in their numbers so people will know that something is still happening,” he said.
He added that the event was deliberately organised to restore members confidence in the electoral process.
“So many of them have lost confidence, they have lost hope in the process. But the reason why we have to do this thing is to bring them back and tell them that NAGAFF has integrity and the election will hold. That’s the motive,” Omenacash stated.
Speaking on his ambition, the outgoing Vice Chairman of the NAGAFF Apapa Chapter said his decision to contest for the Chairmanship position was driven by the need to address persistent challenges confronting freight forwarders and other port users.
He identified unnecessary cargo delays, multiple alerts and other operational bottlenecks as some of the issues he intends to tackle if elected.
According to him, cargoes that should ordinarily be cleared within a short period sometimes remain delayed for one or two weeks, subjecting freight forwarders and agents to avoidable stress.
“We have seen those things, multiple alerts and the rest of them, and we have to say, no, enough is enough. We want to stop that, and we want to make sure that everybody is being carried on board. We want to work in accordance with the import guidelines and make sure that trade is facilitated,” he said.
Omenacash said his manifesto includes advocating for a more efficient cargo clearance process, reducing multiple alerts to one alert per declaration, where necessary, and promoting capacity building for freight forwarders through technology and professional education.
He also pledged to protect the interests of freight forwarders, shippers and transporters, particularly in areas where operational delays and other bottlenecks affect their businesses.
“Firstly, I promised them that all these multiple alerts that we are seeing will not be coming again. Even if there will be alerts, it should be one alert per declaration. Secondly, I have decided to empower freight forwarders with tech education and professional training,” he explained.
Highlighting his record as Vice Chairman, Obinali pointed to his previous interventions on terminal charges, access to the ports and other operational challenges, describing his antecedents as the reason for the support he continues to receive.
He said his experience in standing up for members during challenging periods had strengthened their confidence in his aspiration.
“My antecedent speaks for me. When they increased terminal charges, I was one of those who took it upon themselves to intervene. When agents were being denied access to the ports, I was also there for them. If I had not been doing those things while I was Vice Chairman, I don’t think you would have this amount of crowd here today,” he said.
Responding to a question on the origin of the name Omenacash, Emeka explained that the nickname emerged from his philanthropic activities and passion for helping others.
According to him, his selfless service, support for people and willingness to assist those in need earned him the popular name.
“I’m a philanthropist. No matter what it takes, I always encourage people and give my all to them. Because of the things I do, people find out that those things are not ordinary, and that was how the name Omenacash came out,” he explained.
He revealed that his full nickname is “Omenacash, alias Chief Bundle,” but noted that Omenacash became the name that stuck over time.
His running mate for the position of Inspectorate and Intelligence, Fwrd. Afam Iheanyi, described Omenacash as a man worthy of the Chairmanship position, expressing confidence in his capacity to move the Apapa Chapter forward.
Following Iheanyi’s remarks, a visibility study was conducted among members at the gathering to ascertain their preferred candidate for the Chairmanship position.
The exercise saw members openly rooting for Omenacash, with supporters expressing confidence in his ambition and chanting their preference for his candidacy.
For the Apapa Solution Team, the gathering was more than a social event, it was a show of solidarity and a deliberate effort to keep the campaign spirit alive, rekindle members’ hope and sustain confidence in the electoral process as they await the next stage of the NAGAFF Apapa Chapter election.
