NPA Boosts Ports Police with Security Equipment, Reaffirms Commitment to Seaport Security

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, donated security equipment to the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command as part of efforts to strengthen security across Nigeria’s seaports and waterfronts.

 

The presentation was made on behalf of the Managing Director of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, by the Port Manager of the Lagos Port Complex (LPC), Mr. Adebowale Lawal, alongside other senior officials of the Authority.

 

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mr. Lawal posited that the donation underscores the Authority’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the security architecture of the nation’s ports.

 

He noted that providing the Ports Authority Police with modern operational equipment would enhance their capacity to protect critical maritime infrastructure, safeguard port users, and prevent security breaches within the port environment and along the waterfronts.

 

He added that the initiative aligns with the NPA’s mandate of ensuring safe, secure and efficient port operations while promoting seamless trade and economic activities.

 

The donated items included bulletproof vests, tactical helmets, raincoats, touch lights, handcuffs, operational boots, batons, and other essential security equipment designed to improve the efficiency, safety, and operational readiness of police personnel.

 

Receiving the equipments, the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, commended the Managing Director and the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority for what she described as a timely and commendable intervention.

 

She said the donation further reflects the strong partnership between the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding the country’s maritime gateways.

 

Agbaminoja assured the Authority that the equipment would be put to effective use in enhancing policing operations and strengthening security across the nation’s ports.

 

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment that supports efficient port operations, trade facilitation, and economic growth, while pledging sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority and other maritime stakeholders to keep Nigeria’s seaports safe, secure, and globally competitive.
