NAGAFF President Begins Chapter Tour, Pledges Support for MMAC

The National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi, has commenced his post-inauguration chapter engagement tour with a visit to the Murtala Muhammed Airport Chapter (MMAC), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening chapters, supporting members and promoting unity within the association.

The visit, held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, followed the successful completion of chapter elections and the inauguration of new executives. It also fulfilled Ezisi’s commitment to visiting various chapters and engaging directly with members at the grassroots.

Addressing members, the NAGAFF President reaffirmed his administration’s support for freight forwarders conducting their businesses within the law, while urging members to preserve unity among airport chapters, associations and formations.

“We will continue to support freight forwarders who conduct their businesses within the ambit of the law. I also urge our members to sustain unity among the airport chapters, associations and formations, as unity is essential to the growth and progress of our association,” he said.

In his welcome address, the MMAC Chapter Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Sulaimon Ayomide, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the national leadership’s commitment to inclusiveness and consultation.

As part of the engagement, the delegation embarked on a tour of key institutions within the airport community, beginning with the Murtala Muhammed Airport Police Command, where the Commissioner of Police, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, received the team and assured NAGAFF of continued cooperation.

The delegation subsequently visited the Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command, where the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, was represented by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Administration, DC Balami, alongside members of the command’s management team. The command congratulated the new executives and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its relationship with NAGAFF.

At the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO Plc), the General Manager, External Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, Mr Ahmed Bashir Gulma, welcomed the delegation and pledged continued collaboration with the association.

However, the MMAC Chairman highlighted equipment challenges affecting cargo-handling efficiency and appealed to NAHCO to improve its operational capacity to minimise delays and support freight forwarders’ businesses.

Supporting the appeal, Ezisi stressed that equipment deficiencies could have serious consequences for freight-forwarding operations and pledged to engage NAHCO’s leadership on the concerns raised.

“Equipment deficiencies can have serious consequences for freight-forwarding operations. We will engage the leadership of NAHCO on the concerns raised to encourage improved operational efficiency and support the businesses of our members,” he said.

Shortly after returning to the chapter secretariat, Ezisi announced the donation of a diesel-powered generator to address the chapter’s power challenges, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to providing practical support to the chapters.

He also commended the chairman for his leadership and the warm reception accorded to the delegation, reiterating the importance of strengthening the association at the grassroots.

In separate interviews with NAGAFF Cargo Watch, chapter members, executives and a representative of the presidential team expressed appreciation to the national president for the visit. They also commended Ayomide and his team for their hospitality and the successful reception.

The engagement concluded with a birthday celebration in honour of Ezisi, featuring cake-cutting and goodwill messages.

The visit forms part of the NAGAFF administration’s efforts to strengthen its chapter structure, promote direct engagement with members and deepen collaboration with government agencies and private-sector operators across the airport cargo sector.
